As part of the London borough of culture Urban Studio Sessions and FLO Vortex came together with funding from The Wimbledon Foundation to create and deliver a series of creative writing workshops centred around the Windrusher's, their descendants and their lived experiences.
This project ran over 8 weekly sessions held at the historic Battersea Library in which Neo Soul sensation and all round creative Natalie Stewart Maddix of Floetry led a varied group of individuals of all ages and stages through the fables and stories of their own ancestors to the realities and experiences of the present within the creative writing space.
The outcome of the journeys had and the work produced is that we are excited and proud to invite you to experience and engage with us at Battersea Library for our Echoes of the Windrush Showcase & Screening where we will be exhibiting a mix of readings, audio, and audio visual works of the pieces penned during the process. This is set to be an immersive and emotive, poetic experience. We look forward to seeing you there.
We will also have special guests and donations can be made on the night.
