SK8ORADE tutored weekly Urban sports club

We provide a safe space for children and young people to learn to participate in Urban sports under our guidance.

As a measure to ensure easy access to the sports we provide all of the equipment if needed, all included in the session fee.

This best way to wind down the weekend.

With support from the Go London fund By The London Marathon Foundation we are happy to announce Sk8oraders 2024, not unlike Sk8orade (Tutored Inline Skating and Skateboarding Sessions) this will be a little different, these sessions are aimed at 11 - 18 year olds.

Sk8oraders 2024 sessions will be 2 hours long allowing for a little extra time skating or commuting then we will have a cool down where we will discuss performance and how we can improve as quickly as possible.

Sessions will not be in one static location all the time meaning we will be visiting various Skateparks and skate spots across London. This project will run as a weekly club including a few holidays camps lasting 12 months.

In addition to the sessions we will be providing an opportunity for 2 - 18 year olds to receive training and certification to join our team. During the course of this project 2 young people will have the opportunity to apprentice with us until they are trained enough to go for certification which we will provide and once certified they will be given a place on our team.

Sessions will take place on Sundays and during the term breaks as Sk8camps, .

Our activities are inclusive and suitable for a range of children including individuals with emotional, behaviour and social difficulties and sessions are equally beneficial for individuals with ADHD, Autism, Aspergers and Dyspraxia however if the needs are to severe we recommend private sessions. Our urban sports sessions provide young people with core life-skills transferable to school, community, home and the workplace.

Disclaimer: Urban Sports or Extreme Sports as it is otherwise known always comes with number of injury risks, and skateboarding is no different. The same injury risk goes for all other mainstream competitive team sports, the primary difference with skateboarding is the risk of injury can be higher depending on your goals as a skater and most of the injuries sustained over the time skateboarding will not be inflicted by anyone else so rest assured. Safety is our primary concern so during our sessions it is imperative that all learners wear all of the safety equipment provided at all times and follow the instruction of the tutors, although this will not remove the risk of injury it will significantly reduce the number and level of injuries sustained. Engaging in this activity will be undertaken at your own risk. In the event of an injury it will be treated where possible, logged and you shall be informed on collection, in the event of a serious injury you will be contacted at the nearest opportunity. Urban Studio Sessions CIC is offering an amazing opportunity to enter a structured pathway for youth to become certified skateboard coaches, in partnership with Skateboard GB. You will learn to Skate & Skateboard alongside receiving training in session management, safeguarding, first aid etc. Once the training is complete the successful candidates will have the opportunity to work with us as tutors inclusive of pay.

Steps to Become a Certified Skateboard Coach through Urban Studio Sessions CIC

Check Eligibility:

Ensure you meet the minimum age requirement, 18 years old or turning 18 before 05/2025.
Have good balance, proficiency in skateboarding can be taught
Good with people with a strong interest in coaching.
Desire to commit to weekly training.
Eligible to work within the UK.

3. Register for a Coaching Course:

We will sign up for a Skateboard Coach Level 1 course.

4. Complete the Training Program:

Attend all required sessions, which include both theoretical instruction and practical skateboarding training.
Training covers coaching techniques, safety guidelines, and effective methods to teach skateboarding to beginners.

5. Pass the Assessment:

Successfully complete all course assessments, which may include practical demonstrations and written exams.
Demonstrate your coaching abilities and understanding of safety protocols.

6. Receive Certification:

Upon passing the assessments, you will receive a Level 1 Skateboard Coach certification from Skateboard GB.
This certification qualifies you to coach at an entry level and is recognised nationally.

7. Further Development:

Engage in ongoing professional development through additional courses and higher-level certifications offered by Skateboard GB and Urban Studio Sessions CIC.
Participate in community skateboarding events and continue refining your coaching skills.
